Not Bad, But...

This is an ethnically-diverse complex, and everyone is very nice and friendly. I've had no security issues at all. BUT...

These apartments are OLD... at least 40 yrs old, and tiny (under 1000 sf). The cabinets in my (unrenovated) apartment are cockeyed and their doors hang askew. The kitchen and bath are barely big enough to turn around in. There is no garbage disposal. And, when I rented, the water was paid for in the rent... now they are charging us additionally. Also (PLEASE NOTE) you are REQUIRED TO PAY FOR BASIC CABLE EVEN IF YOU DON'T WANT IT (an arrangement with the local cable company, no doubt). I do, but I know there are many people here who really can't afford it and may not really want it, but are forced to pay for it...

Also, IMHO, they are trying to "class" the place up to attract a "better quality" tenant. This will drive out the people who are basically good, paying tenants. And this place will NEVER attract the Far West Enders, so give it up, people! I asked if I could transfer within the complex to another apartment situated differently so that I don't get direct sunlight in my bedroom in the summer (it gets HOT upstairs, even with the AC), and was told that they do NOT allow that, I can only change if I upgrade to a 3BR (of which there are maybe 6 in the complex) or downgrade to a 1BR (ditto). So they'd rather see me move out of the complex than keep me here as a good, quiet, timely-paying tenant???

This is not a place for anyone who wants amenities and space. Not bad as a starter (or starting again) place, but if like me you are in transition between homes it is NOT ideal at all. Certainly I do not understand how a family of 4 could comfortably live in one of these 2BRs.

I will be moving when my lease is up.
