I agree with the previous reviews...just moved in this year, and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. I guess I should have taken the hint when I saw a drug deal taking place right in front of my building during the week that I moved in. My building is very noisy with barking dogs, loud music from open patio doors as well as from cars in the parking lot (does EVERYONE in Richmond have an 808 in their car?), slamming doors, loud cursing conversations on the landings and regular domestic disturbances. My apartment is drafty-I'm sure I'm in for a very cold winter with very high heating bills. I'm almost afraid to leave or enter my apartment after dark because of the people loitering in the area. Doesn't seem to be much of a police presence unless there's a domestic call-rarely see police drive through, and curiously, no police live on site. It seems that Maintenence is making more of an effort to be responsive and the office staff is very pleasant and accommodating. With some building improvements, better site security and a more stringent application process, perhaps conditions in the community could improve. I only wish I felt confident enough that these things will occur to stay and wait for it. Like the previous reviewer, I plan to move out as soon as my lease is up.

I agree with the other reviewer, it's a so-so place and waaaay over-priced. Security? Yah, a guy tried to rob me with a gun several weeks ago while I was checking my mail. The reaction in the office? "Yeah, you look like you have money." Thanks! I should spend it elsewhere!

Anyway, it is (usually) a pretty quiet place, I like the trees though they probably help conceal thugs. Right now with a spree of 100+ degree weather my roomy and I are miserable, our AC unit is dead for the 3rd time in as many weeks. Supposedly a new unit has been ordered & the maintenance folks have given up trying to fix it. They brought him a fan but not me, so last night when I got back to town I had to go get one, we finally got the temp down to about 92F.

I like the location, I generally like the office staff, especially the Spanish-looking girl, but all the ladies try to be nice. It's a shame about the mugging attempt but that could happen anywhere. Overall though I'm very ready to move on and try to save some money, I think too many thugs and varmints are moving in.

I have lived in Aspen Station for 2 years, the first year was great, but then I don't know if management changed but things went downhill. Before I would request maintenence and they would be here the same day, now i've sent 2 requests to get my garbage disposal and microwave [which looks like its from the 80's and is just worthless, if you move here, buy your own] fixed and its been a month and nobody has shown up. I work an awkward schedule at work which makes it very hard to call them directly and get someone on the line. I'm about fed up with it. The apartments are nice, but way overpriced, its absoulutly ridiculous... this isn't even a nice area, you can't walk anywhere without fearing for your life and there is nothing particularly close that would make for an increase in rent. $800 a month for a one bedroom in a shady area is not worth it. The apartments are also pretty old, and the washer and dryer here are acient. The washer takes about an hour to get through a load, and the dryer takes 2 hours to do a load which is just a waste when you get your utility bill. Insulation isn't very good so expect a high heating and air bill. I will give them credit, they did put in new appliences, which is nice. But they should be doing improvements all over the apartment for the rent that we pay. I am moving out in august and not soon enough, I can't afford the ridiculous rent. This apartment is worth about $500. not $800-$1000.
