I moved from a Thalhimer managed property which was a HORRIBLE experience. The overall staff has been wonderful!! Its very quiet, secluded, and feels like home!!

The Pros

Neighborhood is very quiet

Fantastic location, close to the southside, the fan and a reasonable distance from downtown and the west end

Lots of ducks and a stream behind the apartment complex makes it very tranquil, good for walks

Apartments are good sized and priced reasonable and include washer and dryers

The Cons

Insulation is thin, I could hear my neighbors having sex, sometimes it would wake me up at night, and my neighbor upstairs sounded like he was stomping around

Appliances and heating/airconditioning units are old, most were made in 1985. I did not mind the old dishwasher, refrigerator or stove, but I had a problem with the airconditioner. It was old so it was not very efficient, during the winter my electric bill would sometimes get over $200 with the heat set at 68 degrees. Luckily my apartment had a rather new washer/dryer.

Ants, seemed to get worse every year, I have never seen as many ants as our final year living there. The first few years we lived there they were not bad, but our final year, they were just out of control

Maintence is great at fixing emergency repairs, but non emergency repairs either take a long time to fix or just get ignored.

Management could be friendlier

I literally looked at every apartment in the Apartment Guide for a roommate styled apartment in a nice part of town. What I came up with is Stony Point. The first thing I noticed was the beautiful clubhouse, gym, pool, sauna and lake. After a brief walk the model, albeit small, seemed perfect for our needs because what was essential to us, in addition to a fireplace, was the two full baths. The lake view is an added bonus that I love to brag about. I think for the high price, it's worth it if you look at what the community offers as a whole. It's very peaceful (priceless to me) and serene. Sometimes this is strange to new folks when they first move in because you literally don't hear anything and people are always usually very intent on getting to and fro without spending a lot of time hanging outside. I like to think of it as respect for the community because the noise level is low and we have a lot of elderly citizens.
I am not happy with maintenance, they give the impression that they really don't know what they are doing. The folks in the rental office are sometimes slow to task and often times give you that "leave us alone" feeling.
Although the apartment as a whole is nice, the appliances are very old. My refridgerator, dish washer, washer & dryer are all rusty but are in fair-good working condition. At $900 a month they should be new or like-new. I've also noticed that the condition of the sidings and roofs need updating also.
In conclusion, I've been a resident for two years. Despite the fact that I hate apartment living, Stony Point apartments has made our temporary living better just by being and because it's so close to many of the places we frequent. Overall, I'd recommend living here.

The view of the lake is beautiful! However, parking could be better as well as the follow up of maintenance requests. The apartment has a nice set-up but the fixtures and appliances should be more up to date, considering the cost of rent. The community is quiet and comfortable but there's only one lock on the door and I wasn't able to have a deadbolt installed. I would recommend the community to others but some updating need to be done, especially when a new complex is down the street. At the time of writing this review I'm not sure if I'd be renewing my lease.

Our place is wonderful; it's a 1 BR with Den, has a big deck and our view is of the lake. For us, it's a fair deal and feels like home.
