New to the Walk ( 08/13/2012 )

Reviewed by: Anonymous
We just moved here and, so far, we are loving our new place. From the trail to the pool to walking to the grocery store or to the little pancake restaurant behind the property, it's a nice little community. Our neighbors are nice (so far:) and the advice we received with the move from the office was a big help.

We had a problem with the AC, but they got it fixed very fast, the same day. Not to mention it happened while we were at work (them fixing it). Pretty happy for that! When I came home the apartment was ice cold. I may have to get the maintenance man a Christmas present. Great customer service!

Salem is much better than Roanoke and with that I wanted to find a Salem apartment but with Roanoke prices (I heard Salem had steep prices), so I looked up Riverwalk and found a great deal. My apartment is massive. I think Shaq could live here with his 15ft bed (yes, he has one of those). I think my square footage is about 1100 or so (IDR). Although my kitchen is on the smaller size, my living room/dining room is great for stretching out with friends, plus I have a 3 bedroom, so I have a master bathroom too. That's sweet! I'm stoked.

Bonjour, mes amies, je parle avec vous pour un minute: I love living here. I am close to roanoke without living in a bad area and I live in a nice apartment with cool neighbors. I like walking along the river and hiking on the trail, plus I can walk down to the Italian Pizza place about 3 football fields from my place. A tout a l'heure! (See ya later!)

I just read the review below and I have to disagree on everything the disgruntled competition posted below. As opposed to the person below, I actually do live here and have for a while. They are right on one part: The people here do their best to appear professional, because they are. I have always felt respected and I think they are friendly folks. If this place has temp workers (I don't know if they are or not) how does that matter? To me it sounds like this person is arrogant because they think temp workers are lower class people. I've done temp work in the past and I have a college degree. So that ****** me off a little, which is a huge reason why I posted a review. Get off your little high horse and have some respect for hard working people; how do you even know if they are temps? I've seen enough carpet cleaners here and know no one is allowed to move into an apartment without the carpets being cleaned in the first place. False review flag number one! I haven't had too many dealings with the maintenance guys, but I know they fix everything in 24 or 48 hrs. So I guess if you call twice in 2 days, the it will take 2 calls, but they tell us over the phone, "We'll be there in (24 or 48hrs)" The outside has been revitalized before I moved here, so I'm not why that person thinks the mgt is still revitalizing. I think the revitalization took place 2 years ago. False review flag number two! To me, because I live here, it's easy to spot a fake poster. None of my neighbors have complained about broken appliances not getting fixed. The mgt people do a great job communicating with us, although sometimes it would be better if they just sent us an email instead of paper handouts. "The flood risk is minimized by the staff". This is fake post flag number three. Only people who don't live here think the property floods because it's next to a river and because it flooded in the past. However, it hasn't had standing water since I've been here and the army corporation or whatever its called dredged out the river because ALL of Salem is in a flood zone. From what I'm told, during the make over 2yrs ago, they dug out all the drainage ditches and put in new ones and that's why the property doesn't flood anymore. I've seen police here too, but I found out that the streets in front of my apartment doesn't belong to this apartment, but to the city of salem and the police are required to patrol it. So it made me feel safer. All in all, I love living here. I have a running path that goes along the river and it's almost exactly a mile, so I don't have to keep count. The pool is awesome, but it should be open longer. If you're looking for a place to live, don't count on someone anonymous review (including mine) to make up your mind, go visit the property or talk to them and judge for yourself. I did and I'm glad I did. I love my home here!
