Apartment Review for College Square

We are military and only had 2 weeks to find a place to live in Virginia Beach- We moved into college square based on their website and upon move in we noticed the house was VERY dirty..chipped cabinets, grease stains on the walls,dingy stained carpet,the bathroom cabinets would not close and the entire house smelled badly like smoke. We filled out our move in inspection list and noted all of these problems but since we had signed a lease we figured we were stuck to finish our 6 months out. One day our neighbor approached us and told us that 6 months prior to our move in our apartment had burned down due to faulty electrical wires. While I cannot be positive the fault was the houses wiring it was odd to us after seeing pictures from the fire that the whole house looked dirty and gross. This now explained the smoke smell and we called maintenance to see if they could do something about it- maintenance then told us they didnt replace much they just covered up most of the damage. We contacted the front office and requested to be moved to a different unit and they chose to give us the option to terminate our lease which we did. Now they are charging us $500 to replace the carpet because they claim we stained it. We advised them of the carpet problems before move in but they still claim it is our responsibility. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone they will rip you off and the amount you pay for the dirty apartments is not worth it!
