I have been here at Lyon's Crest for almost 4 years, I must admit i have mixed feelings about the place. Good things: The location is really great; on the bus line and close to stores, so thats a plus. Also, rent is fairly cheap for the quality of the apartment; I pay $440 a month and we have pretty pergo flooring and all new appliances and windows. the management is swift to act on issues and are very nice. They value a tenant who obeys the policies and pays their rent on time, every time. The bad things: Our bathroom is an absolute mess, and has been so since we moved in. The tile has started to come up, and the shower is like a mold factory... and it's not because of me not cleaning it, I've taken a toothbrush to the thing only to see the mold return again in a weeks time. I wont even take a bath in my own bathtub because I am so grossed out by the mold situation. This is the result of bad workmanship from the past, they should have taken the entire bathtub/tiling out and put in one of those one unit baths. The bathroom is also ungodly small. Another thing is a lack of storage space; there are only 2 closets, and one has half of it taken up by the water heater. Also, the maintenance man has had to fix a leak in out bathtub faucet every winter since we have been here. The pool every summer is so crowded with kids, that i have YET to even use it after 4 years of living here. There has also been a lot of vandalism to the pool, which is not managements' fault, but it gives you an idea of some of the residents here. The residents mainly consist of young couples/singles in one building, Elderly and families in another building, and the third contains drunken partiers and single moms with 8 kids a piece. they try and keep each type with its own, thankfully. The property is also not as safe as it once was; We no longer have more than one security guy or dogs patrolling the premises, its just one guy who i think also does maintenance who walks around for a few hours. cars are routinely broken into with windows smashed. I noticed a while ago that someone had tried to kick my apartment door in(the door's frame has a HUGE crack in it), and all the maintenance guy told me was that he thinks its still pretty safe and if i wanted it replaced, i would have to pay for a whole new door. They also NEVER lock the laundry room, which is cool sometimes if you need to do laundry late at night, but also i worry that someone might be able to sneak in somehow if another tenant did not shut the door right(i live close to the laundry, so this worries me). The last bad point, a "waterfall" was built right in front of my window this summer to "beautify the apartment grounds", it has caused more harm than good; between people stopping in mid drive to gawk at it and stupid people putting bubbles in it every night(right outside my window i repeat).. also, the construction of the thing was loud and annoying for my boy friend who worked nights and was trying to sleep as they built this thing RIGHT out side my window. now all we see outside is a huge dirt mound and bushes that are about to bust through the window because they never prune them. Oh, the waterfall pump burst one day which made a mud slide seep into our apartment through the floor heater... this was awful, but the owner HIMSELF came to help out, and was quick to remedy this by giving us a free months rent, money to get out laundry clean that was used to sop up mud, money for our area rug to be cleaned, and a whole new area rug that he wasnt using. he also called the fountain company as soon as this happened to get them to come back and fix their mistake. They had to replace half out flooring, but this happened the very next day, so they were very swift about it. So as a final summary, Lyon's crest is really great for someone who needs a cheap place to live which is nice for the price, you just have to learn how to ignore some of the little inconveniences. Oh, and not keep anything of value in your car ^_^
