Review Title:   Bad Choice For A Home.

The apartments at Shadow Creek are decent but nothing to get excited about. No matter where you live, if you do not own your own home, you are subject to dealing with management/owners. The attitude of the management anywhere you live generally outlines your whole experience for the duration of your rental. At Shadow Creek the staff is woefully inadequate and have a pretty bad attitude. Shadow Creek is owned by a management company (with {I do beleive} a fictitious business name) in Santa Barbara, CA. and not being able to contact them regarding your experience at Shadow Creek makes life there such that you wish that you had never heard about the place to begin with. Walking into the office you smell the fresh baked cookies and are greeted with a nice smile and welcoming attitude but... woe unto you if you sign that lease and actually expect the staff to live up to their promises regarding complaints and repairs in your apartment!!! The pool is often shut down by city health officials and when you question the staff about this they either ignore you or let you know that they have much better things to do than to assist their tenants with issues they may have. Think before you rent anywhere... some tips for you: 1) Check out the crime reports where you are going to rent. The city police keep a public record as to how many visits they make to an address. 2) Talk to other residents before you move in. 3) Use the internet to see if there are reviews about your prospective home. 3) Make sure that you check local and state law regarding repairs and other issues you may encounter while renting as these laws can be very helpful when a landlord or owner is not keeping up with their end of the lease or rental agreement. http://www.leg.wa.gov/RCW/index.cfm?fuseaction=chapterdigest&chapter=59.18 4) Always keep a record of all contact with staff/owners/landlords so that, in the event of any civil proceedings, you actually have fact to present to a person of authority. 5) Never be shy when it comes to letting the staff/owner/manager that you are aware of the law and will make sure the they are held responsible if they do not meet their end of an agreement.
