Review Title:   Construction Zone - Management O.K. Sometimes They
Reviewer:   Anonymous
Review Date:   5/3/2008

Lock Vista has become a construction zone in the past month. A sale of the building to a condo conversion buyer fell through and now management is fixing things up all at once. The construction activity has been relentless. Are the owners prepping the building so that they can try to sell it again? Since last summer it has been challenging to live here. First the sale of the building was announced, then there was a gag order so we were told nothing, then the sale fell through because the buyer lacked necessary financing. Now we are starting to receive substantial rent increases and only some of us are being offered lease options other than month-to-month. Management is o.k. They can be inconsistent and unreliable in communication, repairs, and building upkeep. Never know what you will get in terms of tone, responsiveness, etc. Sometimes they are great. Usually they are polite. Consistency would be welcome. Maybe more office staff is needed. As for upkeep, we used to have reliable clean up staff who maintained the common areas on a weekly basis. Now, residents pitch in and vacuum common areas, clean up the laundry room, etc. because upkeep is intermittent. Such a bummer. To their credit, management is good at handling tenant noise, resident issues, and any problems with the occassional person who hangs out or passes out on the property while intoxicated and/or having mental health issues. I am hopeful that management will become equally consistent in their management of repairs, returning phone calls, and remembering commitments with tenants. It has been challenging this past year and tenants would like the same kind of service we used to have. Some days coming home at the end of the day has proved to be more stressful than being at work. Currently, it can be noisy due to the onsite repairs and renovations. Also, the hot water boiler has been breaking down a lot and we are left without hot water. My stove sometimes works and only two of my burners work. I have had to take showers elsewhere and do laundry off-site on days when the boiler breaks down. Great neighbors, great location! Fun pool and maintained landscaping on site. Management is usually cordial and polite on a personal level. Hope the professional side improves.
