Apartment Reviews for Fountain Court - Seattle

Fountain Court Apartments is on 4th Avenue and only 1 mile from downtown Seattle. Public transportation is easily accessible with several bus stops in the area. Caffeine lovers can get their fix from the Uptown Espresso or the Artisan Cafe within steps of the building. A City Foods is located across the street for grocery shopping or tenants can stop by Bambinos Pizzeria for a bite to eat. Reviews complain about strict management and the amount of pet waste around the premises.

(1) Security (4)
Keycard access to the building, deadbolt on your door (most entrances are interior to the building) and security patrols as well. This doesn't get a 5 just because the bldg is caddy corner from the Seattle Community Psychiatric Clinic in downtown Belltown - you locals can surmise what that entails...

(2) Parking (2)
Managed by Republic (they are jerks - be prepared to go to war with them over fines, but I was 6-0 in terms of not paying vs. paying and so you can be too) and costs a lot. If you actually want to be assured a spot, better get one in the reserved garage which will cost even more. Otherwise, hope you have a tiny car. But then again, probably just below par for Belltown.

(3) Appearance/Upkeep (4)
Fountain Court is kept clean and very well maintained. The stairwells are unfinished, but oh well. Some places downtown are nicer but pretty good overall.

(4) Mgmt/Office Staff (5)
They are fantastic people! When I lived there, I went to visit the leasing office to chat with them as well as for the cookies! It's a corporation (Essex) but you won't find better people to rent from in the 98052.

(5) Maintenance (4)
Responded to my requests in a timely and efficient manner. My only qualm is when they would come uninvited (they did give 24 hrs notice) for various inspections, happened about 3 times over the course of a year.

(6) Condition of Unit (4)
Overall quite nice when I moved in, the bathtub was a little eroded and so they get a minor knock. But they take very good care of making sure it's near immaculate for when you're first getting to live there.

(7) Noise (negative infinity)
DO NOT LIVE ON THE SOUTH OR WEST SIDES OF THIS BUILDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As you may notice, FC is across Battery from Seatle Fire Station #2, and you will hear the trucks as well as the station's EMS unit at all hours of the night. Since Belltown is one way streets, 4th and Battery are to be especially avoided at this complex as they are the paths outward from the fire station. If you live on a lower level, you can also hear the street noise. Additionally, the walls are pretty thin so you can hear your neighbors and they can hear you.

(8) Overall (3)
I lived here for just over a year and was overall pleased. I would recommend this place to a friend, provided they live (A) higher than the 2nd floor, (B) not on the south or west side. The head mgr showed me the units they are remodeling when I was doing my final paperwork (btw, I got back like 80% of my security deposit, didn't do anything too special either in closing) and they were very nice. These apartments are good value for Belltown.
