I moved into 25th place apartments in Oct of 2004. I was sold by the look of the apartments: spacious, modern, light etc. I got in for a pretty good deal with my 1 year lease. The apartment manager who worked there at the time: Laura, was very nice.
I am used to living in apartments so the occasional noises and apartment malfunctions didnt really bother me. It wasnt until a few months in when I realized the construction was cheap-closet doors always falling off, exercise equipment always broken, secure garage was broken into numerous times and cars vandalized and no one was ever in the office-I had to reschedule my cable setup twice because no one was I the office during office hours. I also missed many packages.
After a change in management-things really got HORRIBLE. Questionable people started moving in, graffiti and throw up in the elevators, trash in the garage, people smoking in their units, noise etc. Maintenance tried to keep things under control but it didnt really work
I decided not to renew my lease. And my nightmare began. When I tried to schedule a walk trough of my apartment at the time of my move out-I couldnt get a hold of the apartment manager (Denise) and when I finally did she said it wasnt really necessary as long as it was clean. (She must have been busy)
So I cleaned- made my apartment spotless and took several photos for documentation. Three weeks later I receive a move-out inspection bill. The bill said I owed $50 for cleaning and $75 for paint touch up and $168 owed to ISTA water company. I was appalled-cleaning/paint for what?! It was perfect. I called immediately and several tries later I got a hold of Denise. She told me she wasnt really sure what it was for and then for inside of the appliances I told her I the place was immaculate-I made sure of it. She got pretty defensive and then said the whole place had to be re-cleaned. I then told her I had pictures to prove the place was in perfect condition and she immediately changed her story. On top of that ISTA water owed me $168 because I overpaid and she read the final bill incorrectly. She demanded proof so I emailed her my ISTA statement and a confirmation that they were going to credit me.
The next day I contacted her manager, Kimberly Bucy, at Allied Group and told her how I was treated and that I felt these false charges felt were unfair AND Denise had made a mistake on my bill. Denise eventually apologized for the error but I still never received a reason why I was charged so much for cleaning and paint. Kimberly was at all no help and was just as ignorant as Denise.
Meanwhile, this bill is sitting in collections in dispute because I am waiting of them to fix this error. I am obsessed with my credit so I called the credit agency every day to check the status-they didnt have luck reaching anyone to correct the mistake either. Figures.
After numerous emails and not response from anyone, I hired a lawyer to handle Allied group-and to get them to remove these charges. The next day my account was revised. This whole process took almost 6months. I have a collection on my credit report that should be coming off, but nonetheless a huge hassle.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME SEEING THESE APARTMENTS. I have never lived in an apartment community that was so unprofessional and unresponsive. I have saved all of my emails I wrote and the few replies I received from Kimberly Bucy. I still have all of my pictures too if anyone wants proof.
