Leave Me Alone

There are a few important issues concerning this apartment complex that are not addressed by the rating scale. #1 Rules Rules Rules. I am a person that likes to mind my own business, pay my rent on time, and enjoy a peaceful existence. The apt manager was constantly patrolling the grounds. This is unnecessary considering this is an extremely safe and quiet complex with the average tenant age being around 60. The manager was just interested in where you were going, when you were doing laundry, what you were throwing in the dumpster, and how often you entertain company (2 or 3 guests for dinner, anymore people would be grounds for eviction even if you were quiet). She would leave sticky notes on my door, and often required me to stop by the office for odds and ends. She also suffers from memory loss, as she will sometimes forget that I already paid rent. #2 The apartment insulation is not good. The larger bedroom is usually freezing cold because a portion of the room juts out from the main wall of the building and aparently doesn't hold heat very well. Noise from the busy street, and the cars coming and going from the apartments would often wake me up from a dead sleep. I could also hear my downstairs neighbor's conversation when she was on the phone. #3 Cheap paint on the walls. The paint would scrape off easily. For example my bedroom dressor resting up against the wall scraped paint off. #3 Unfriendly neighbors. True, I like to mind my own business. But if I happen to say hi to you as I pass you in the stairway or see you at the mailboxes, it doesn't feel nice to be ignored and looked at like a monster. ( I am a young, professional looking person, not a monster) #4 Parking was an issue. While each 2 bedroom apartment was allowed a garage and the use of one parking space, there were plenty of unused spaces in the parking lot that we could not even use for a minute (not even for guests) There were about 4 guest parking spaces that were always full. I was even scolded for using a few spaces during the process of moving in. Come on! ( See #1, rules rules rules) #5 Age discrimination. Like I said the demographic is a bit older than most apartments. Consequently, a younger person is practically on automatic probation when the lease is signed. Young does not equal party animal or untrustworthy. #6 Cold showers. Not enough hot water in the apartment for 2 people to take short showers.

As for the pros, the place is immaculate inside and out, as if someone has OCD. Clean, well maintained, and quiet. Would I live there again? Absolutely not!!!
