Looks Can Be Deceiving!

The apartments are great, but the apartment manager is very unfriendly and does her best to control the people who live there as much as she can... such as telling the tenants how many times a visitor is allowed to visit per year (and if they are there more, she charges an additional $500/month on top of the high rent), she won't let visitors park in the parking lot (makes them park on the street), yells at tenants about "noise levels" all the time but she's allowed to stomp up and down the stairs and slam her door at her leisure. When you move out, she tells you what cleaners you MUST use to clean what parts of the apartment, and then gives you a very small fraction of your security deposit back (if any!). She basically makes the apartments in my mind go from a 4 or 5 star to a 1 star, if that. In addition, the rent they charge isn't competitive with the others in the Valley of the same size. It's owned by a company in Brookfield, who think they can charge more because they're haughty down there. And if you tell them it's overpriced, they tell you to get out and rent somewhere else that's just as high quality. (found the same size for $100 cheaper in a week) It was hell to live there and I'm glad I don't anymore.

I agree with you- my mother lived there for many years and the apartment manager's attitude kept getting worse and worse. She finally moved out last year because she was treated so poorly. She continuously threatened my mother about her television being too loud, slamming her door, and even told her how to wash her clothes properly! Funny thing about the parking situation is she's (the manager) allowed to have as many visitors as she wants (plus her car and her husband's car) take up as many parking stalls as they want, but if a tenant has their car in their garage and has a visitor taking up one space, she flips out and starts yelling that there aren't enough parking spaces and someone has to move their car. I usually rode my bike to visit Mom because otherwise she kept getting "written up" for being a problem tenant. I feel badly for the manager's husband; he's a decent guy who runs the maintenance aspect really well and seems to be a real people person. His wife, however, needs a lesson on being a humanitarian, or at least how to treat others like she would like to be treated.
