I lived in one of his units for a year, i too had the problem with broken screens rotted out windows oh and don't forget rotted doors. During that year My house was broken into on two occasions when I wasn't home (front door kicked in then back door the 2nd time) when i called him about the second break in he held me accountable letting shady people into the house.
After we painted and scrubbed the whole house we recieved not our security deposit but a bill charging us for him to repaint it!!
We took it to a lawyer who actually was pretty enthused because he has had many tenants come complaining to him about Bruce and Metro investments. He even wanted to show off the 10+ cases he's won against him.
All i have to say is stay away from Metro investments and that little crook Brucie

Me and my girlfriend have been with Bruce going on five years. He is always very friendly and approachable. He has never been even close to being a "slumlord" in any of our experiences. People should read their leases and understand them, not blame Bruce or Metro Investments for their own stupidity. I would recommend bruce to anyone and will continue to rent from him.

We lived in one of Metro Investments buildings for one year. We had the best experience with them. Bruce Field is great landlord and wonderful maintenance guys. Anytime we had anything break they were there in 1-2 business days, but if it was an emergency they would be there the same day and/or night. We did receive our entire security deposit back minus the water and sewer bills. We talked to Bruce about the water bills and he pointed out in the lease where it explains the charges and he even sent us an invoice from each quarter, which was also very helpful. We were late with rent one month and Bruce was very understanding. We had an issue in the building with one of the units having parties and Bruce took care of it immediately. If you are looking for a GREAT company to rent from I would recommend Bruce Field with Metro Investments.

The earlier reviews of Metro Investment apartments are over reactions, and personal slanders. I have happily lived in their apartments for 16 years.
I know several people who have done the same and I will be encouraging them to write on this site.

Their apartments are not mansions, nor are they any where near to "slums" as an earlier person wrote. It is a small family company that does its best to keep up with repairs, and will be out to help you at any time of night or day for an emergency.

No, they may not get to that missing cupboard handle right away, but if the heat goes out, or some other real problem occurs they will show up at 2 am.

Any serious problem I have had has always been taken seriously and addressed to the best of their ability in a timely manner. I have always felt as though I was a valued tenant.

They rent often to students, who could care less about the way they treat their apartments, so they instituted protective measures that are all outlined clearly in the lease, such as the charge for light bulbs and keys.

Yes... these do cost money, and they have to pay people to come in and install new locks because if they don't, they are exposing the current tenants to home invasion and robbery from the previous tenant.

Bruce is one of the most understanding and kind landlords I have met or heard of on the East Side. He goes out of his way to help people who treat him with respect. I have seen him treated very rudely and he will still be professional.

Some of the "problems" mentioned in earlier posts are foolish. Most rental units require paid parking, and utilities. It is your responsibility to read rental contracts, that is Why they are given to you. It is not the landlords responsibility to read it to you, nor to pay your bills if reneged on.

The only legitimate complaint I see is the tarp drain, which is admittedly bad, though unusual in my experience of my own and friends apartments. None of the reports indicate if they notified the management of the problems indicated.

As for the name calling in earlier posts, that shows a childish attitude that is borne out by the lack of personal responsibility shown in the nature of the complaints.
