Founded in 1858 by two prospectors who struck gold, Denver, the capitol city of Colorado, pays homage to its roots with a gold-domed Capitol Building. Denver has a flourishing art scene in the Santa Fe arts district. The converted warehouses of the lower downtown, known as “LoDo,” feature brewpubs, cafes, jazz clubs and restaurants. Denver boasts 40 museums, including the Denver Museum of Art, and a 10-venue Performing Arts Complex.
